How the surcharge is calculated
When a payment uses a method with a surcharge (for example in a Collection), CIRMS starts from the amount paid and takes off, in this order: Amount 1, then Percentage 1 of what's left, then Amount 2, Percentage 2, Amount 3 and Percentage 3. The part taken off is the Charge Amount (the bank's fee); what's left is the Actual Amount you actually receive.
Example. A card surcharge with Amount 1 10.00 and Percentage 1 2%. A customer pays 10,000.00 by card: 10,000.00 − 10.00 = 9,990.00; 9,990.00 − 2% = 9,790.20. Charge Amount = 209.80 and Actual Amount = 9,790.20. The fee shows as Credit Payment Charge in the Income Statement.
